The focus is favorably shifting from quantity to quality, thanks to the pandemic. Premium Gins have seen a 16% increase in sales, according to IWSR. It also forecasts premium gin to grow at 11.1% CAGR between 2020-2025. 

Gin is typically made from Juniper berries and botanicals, which gives its flavor a smooth dimension. It can be enjoyed as classic cocktails such as dirty martini, or a simple gin, and tonic or can be had on the rocks.

This alcoholic beverage dates back to the 16th century when it was used to treat stomach aches and anxiety (we definitely don’t promote that). It’s definitely London’s most versatile addition to the world of spirits.

Brands such as Bombay Sapphire, Beefeater, Gordon’s London Dry gin are classics to start with. For the gin-tellectuals and the creatives, homegrown new-age brands such as Doja Gin, Maka Zai, Amrut’s Nilgiris, Greater than, and Stranger and Sons can be given a shot for your coming weekend or a mid-week breather.

Food Pairing: Enjoy your drink with a platter of cheese, lamb kofte or salmon and prawns.

This isn’t a stand-up promo by our very Indian comic, Vir Das who is often in the news for his wordy acts of bravery in and outside the country that reeks of rebellion, I mean ‘revolution’. This is the guy’s actual entrepreneurial debut with Faaaak IT!, a craft beer launched in Pune, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad under the craftmanship of Great state Ale works, a Pune-based craft brewery.

We hope the claims aren’t taller than a pitcher of Faaaak IT! beer on our table, when we give it a try as we are happy people and this is claimed to be ‘the happy beer’.

I am a Delhi girl with an appetite for parties, and since I moved here I couldn’t really find a place that could be my daily hangout or even a weekend special place without burning a hole or even getting the engines warmed up. 

So it’s a usual day where I step out and look for a cozy place to read/ write and have a cup of coffee (a beer would be better, no doubt) I chance upon another BYOB in Indirapuram. 

This is no usual BYOB, like the ones you see in Delhi and Noida (those are actually ahaatas that are unhygienic, sleazy, and dreadful.). I mean one gets a hangover at the sight of these places. These cool dudes are fancy places striving to be at par with the Ahatas/BYOB in Gurgaon. 

Yes, BYOB is in. They are fancy, comfortable, open-aired, gender-friendly with a decent menu. Food is generally priced higher between the range of 300-500 per dish but the same can be the case at any restro bar. Music is also palpable, especially at Gurgaon BYOBs. 

The two new BYOBs in Indirapuram are in Niti Khand and Gyan Khand. BYOB in Niti Khand is mondaine and quirkier, and his stepbrother doesn’t scream too much attention as of yet, where I am sitting at present. Why am I at the stepbrothers? You will know as you read on. 

Both BYOBs are trying to change the ahata game in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, and are also trying be gender-inclusive. The only drawback is the cover charge in one of these places and the overpriced dishes on the menu. One ends up paying more on top of the cover charge. For a couple, drinks and food would cost you anywhere between 1200-1500 at Niti Khand. 

The BYOB concept is great and I am a personal fan as long as it is safe and a delightful experience, though expectations should be managed. 

Do come and visit these couple-friendly BYOB places in Indirapuram and share your boozy experience. Also, do let me know how you find these for women and whether BYOB in Indirapuram and Gurgaon will be able to replace our favorite car-o-bars?
